Rebecca today, 12:04 AM by Anonymous User
My name is Rebecca and I honestly like it a lot, I'm gen z and all throughout school I only met one other girl my age with the name. Granted I've met plenty of older women with it but that's hardly caused issues, I actually like not having to spell out my name constantly. My friends call me 'Becks' and the young kids I work with call me Ms.Becky and it's properly cute. My middle name is Diana and I think it works really well.

Belladonna today, 12:02 AM by funstrix
I understand this name might not be for everyone due to the association with poison, but that darker association is part of why I like it. Honestly, I'd probably choose it for myself. If you don't want to give it to a person, perhaps a black cat... or is that too cheesy?

Svetlana yesterday, 10:34 PM by Salamander
This is my daughter's name. She goes by Sveta, except for people who can't pronounce it. For them, she goes by Lana. This is how it often goes when she's introducing herself:Sveta: Hi, I'm Sveta.
Person: What?? (or Feta?)
Sveta: It's short for Svetlana.
Person: Oh, Svetlana!or this:
Sveta: Hi, I'm Svetlana.
Person: Oh, Samantha, that's a beautiful name!

Shoshana yesterday, 10:07 PM by Anonymous User
@hot-hussy In the Old Testament there are a few masculine names that derive from the same root as Shoshana. They are Sheshan (lily), Sheshai/Shashai (my lily or possibly lily of God), Shisha (alabaster), and Jeshishai (ancient of the Lord). Alternatively, you could choose a similar-sounding name like Shawn, or masculinize Shoshana by removing the A, turning it into Shoshan.

Amporn yesterday, 9:54 PM by Anonymous User
As the meaning suggests, this name is a "hidden blessing". It has a beautiful meaning and pronunciation if you can dig deeper than the surface and truly discover what this name means. "Amporn" isn't the only transcription of the beautiful Thai name "อําพร", so in an English-speaking country I would advise using a different spelling (maybe Amphon), but that shouldn't stop you from using a name like this.

For the people who say this name is bad because it sounds like tequila: Luna, which is in many top 10 names, sounds like the start of the word 'lunatic' and yet literally no one immediately thinks of mentally ill people when they hear that name, they think of the moon. It's odd to pick and choose which names sound vaguely like some bad or adult word.

Jordan yesterday, 1:59 PM by Anonymous User
I (non-binary) love this name and am seriously considering changing my name to this in the future. The comments arguing about whether its more masculine or feminine actually make me love it more, because that means people aren't going to be able to tell my gender just reading it.

Ashley yesterday, 11:47 AM by casualnamenerd
If you're reading this near the top of the comments section, you probably have the comments sorted by "newest first". Do yourself a favor: sort by highest rated. Notice how the comments being downvoted into the underworld are excessively hateful, rude, unintelligent, and full of baseless stupid stereotypes? Yeah, focus on positive comments and comments with actually useful, constructive criticisms.Personally speaking now, Ashley is a fine name. I would compliment anyone I met on this name because it simply is pretty.
Yes, it went through a period of extreme popularity; yes, many girls/women have the same name. But the same can be said for every generation of a particular name. It will age fine because all the girls with "popular" names have always and will continue to grow and experience all the different stages of life.
Yes, it has "ash" in the name and that doesn't sit right with some people, but I think of the ashes that a phoenix rise from; either way it's not a negative anymore than Cecilia or Claudia's negative meanings.
Yes, IT. IS. UNISEX. whether you (or some random jerk) likes it or not. Especially considering America isn't the only country in the world, and every country's naming culture is different. It's a girl's name, it's a boy's name (lots of boys name end in "-ey", come on now), it'd even be a fantastic nonbinary name.If someone's gonna harass you or your child over something as simple as a name, turn around and walk away. Ignore them.

Ashley yesterday, 11:38 AM by Anonymous User
The stereotypes allegedly surrounding the name actually make me laugh. I'm a fan of singer-songwriter Halsey. Halsey's real name is Ashley Frangipane. Over the last ten years she has adopted every style, every image one can think of and she won't stop. She has and will challenge every stereotype. "White" — Halsey is biracial, half black and half white. White-passing, as she has said, is a privilege, but it doesn't erase her heritage.
"Blonde" — She was born brunette with a mixed hair type, and she has rocked so many colors and styles: blonde, black, ginger, teal, pink, red, curly, wavy, straight, coils, braids, long, short, pixie, mullet, shaved…
"Dumb" — a savvy businesswoman with a experimenting with multiple genres of music in her career, a painter, an actress, a dancer, a visual artist, a poet, a make-up artist and make-up brand owner… current net worth: $20 million.
"Too girly" or "too tomboy" — Halsey's sense of style is every evolving and eclectic: grunge, soft, casual, girly, goth, schoolgirl, tomboy, androgynous, drag, high fashion, street, modern, futuristic, vintage…
"Mean" — Anything but. She has a big personality and is strong-willed, but is also extremely kind and affectionate, and there are many examples of how much she loves and values her fans. She's a good friend and a great mother. This Ashley is a great role model. She is whatever she decides to be, not one to be put in anyone else's box. If you're an Ashley, or want to name your daughter/son Ashley, this is who I think of and (while I don't draw comparisons to a celebrity) I think you deserve every compliment, you have every right to be whoever you want to be.

Artemis yesterday, 5:40 AM by Anonymous User
Elisha, Eliison and Eliis came from to honour
the name Elizabeth and all are popular unisex names for boys!! Like how Ashley is being used for boys too in Australia! Dakota, Enid, Hallie, Lauren and even Astrid are now becoming choices for boys too in recent years ✓
So Artemis for boys is not unforgivable or strange! It's fine! The meaning comes from hunt and moon and moon in some cultures is the symbol of masculinity. So Artemis can be used for boys too. Artemas is also better especially the connection to the bible stories. But you can't stop people because they want to name their son Artemis, You don't do it but that can't stop people.

Shawna yesterday, 3:56 AM by Charlie1977
Shawna Waldron (born on January 25, 1982), is an American actress, who started her career as an almost teen actress, when she was 12-years-old, I think. I mostly know her from playing first kid "Lucy Shepherd" in "The American President (1995)" and "Becky O'Shea" in "Little Giants (1994)", the latter being her debut movie.

Nyree 6/7/2024, 10:11 PM by Flashash75
My name is Nyree. It's a family name. We are Australian Aboriginal heritage. I am named after my Aunty Nyree. I dispute the statement here that it was spelled this way because of the actress. My Aunty was born in 1905 on a mission in western NSW. Therefore this spelling was not created by the actress. Also, I was told by my grandfather and mum that for us it means "light of dawn"

My little brother is called Hayden. I always thought it was a girl's name. I saw my mom's birth announcement that was blue with the name Hayden, and I was so confused. But I do know other boys called Hayden. It's gender neutral. I don't mind the name at all. I like it better on a girl though.

Naomi 1 6/7/2024, 6:21 PM by Anonymous User
Beautiful! it's my name. I'm 15 years old, and for as long as i can remember, i've always gotten compliments on it. I never got teased because of the "i moan" thingy, so i don't think that it's a dealbreaker. i would rate my name a 9/10, because people usually have a problem with the pronunciation, but when i correct them once they always remember it (Nay-OH-mee). I just simply love it! i'm from england, and that name is not that common here, which is honestly a bonus point to this name, it's known without being overused. :)

Briana 6/7/2024, 6:16 PM by Anonymous User
I don't really like my name, but I'm fine with people calling me Bri. When I was born, so many people told my parents to change the spelling to make it easier to pronounce. Someone said change it to "Briona" but that would make people say "bri-O-na" Then some people said to just change it altogether to "Brianna" which I like better but still prefer similar names like "Briar". Just to clarify, my name is pronounced "bri-ah-na" I used to get annoyed with people spelling and saying my name "Brianna" but now I don't mind. So many people assume that is what it is, and I honestly don't think it matters. Either one works. My family all calls me "Bri" anyway, so to tell you the truth, I wouldn't have a clue which is the "correct" way to pronounce it.
